Chief Segars has served the Belmont Fire Department, Greenville County & the State of South Carolina in many capacities. His many roles include, Greenville County Fire Chief’s Association’s past President, Greenville County Emergency Response Team Chairman, Greenville County Hazardous  Materials Team Chairman. He currently serves on the SC LP Gas Board, the SC Special Purpose Districts Board of Directors, and currently serves as the President of the Greenville County SPD Association.

Chief Segars has served at Belmont Fire Department since 1983 and was promoted to the rank of Fire Chief in May of 1995. Chief Segars has been inducted as a Life Member of the Belmont Fire Department.
Family: Wife-Sherri; Children-Brook, Brandon, Paige and Blake; Grandchildren– Haylee, Ian, Tyler, Kayleigh, Brody, Isabella, Cameron and Kylee.

The willigness to serve along with the servant attitude was passed on to several of the Chief's children. His daughter Brook is a Paramedic with Spartanburg County, and Her husband Justin is a Sergeant with the City of Spartnaburg Police Department. His son Blake, is a FF/EMT with the City of Mauldin, and a volunteer/part-time member of the Belmont Fire Department. And lastly, his Son Brandon is a member of the Williamston Fire Department.
